Abstract

Conducted a study with 71 male and 29 female patients admitted to an Indian mental hospital, using a modified version of the Cohen-Struening scale to measure attitudes toward mental illness. Preliminary findings are briefly presented concerning authoritarianism, benevolence, mental hygiene, social restrictiveness, and interpersonal hygiene as related to sex, urban-rural residence, and economic status.
