Abstract

Based on interview data obtained from 76 chronic male patients out of a selected purposive sample of 126 patients at an Indian hospital for mental disease, it is concluded that a majority desire to go home and that they have a positive attitude toward their guardians. Analysis also showed that the longer the hospitalization, the lesser the desire to be discharged. Implications for rehabilitation of mental patients are discussed.
